Poet, journalist, and essayist. Born in Puerto Rico in 1908, Miranda Archilla joined a group of avant-garde poets in 1928 and co-founded a movement called El Atalaya de los Dioses which revolutionized Puerto Rican poetry. A fervent nationalist, he exiled himself to New York in 1951 where he authored several books of poetry, essays and novels, and participated in such organizations as the Instituto de Puerto Rico, Circulo de Escritores Iberoamericanos, and Vanguardia Betances.
